Oden likely out for rookie season after knee surgery.
That really sucks. I think Oden could have been (may still be) the next David Robinson. Well, if he does come back next year, he will still be 4 years younger than when Robinson was a rookie. And that worked out pretty well.
I hope he keeps his spirits up, and that the recovery goes well.

Okay, so here’s the reason why I don’t think this series is ‘tainted’.
- Spurs win Game #1. Both teams at full strength, except Nash was bleeding like a stuck pig for the last, critical minute. Nota Bene: There was no dirty play here, just two guys banging heads, both got hurt.
- Suns win Game #2. Both teams at full strength, Soudemire calls Spurs (Bowen and Ginobli in particular) ‘Dirty’.
- Spurs win Game #3. Both teams at full strength.
- Suns win Game #4. Both teams at full strength. Horry’s late foul, and Nash’s flop lead to a two game suspension for Horry, one game each for Stoudemire and Diaw. Now, if Nash doesn’t flop, maybe no altercation happens and league review leads to Horry getting fine or some such. But Nash drops like a man with an inner ear imbalance, and plays up the pain. Thus leading to the altercation, and the suspensions. And, really, the Spurs just choked this game away at the end. If they play halfway decent, nothing happens. So, don’t blame Horry. Blame Parker/Ginobli/Finley for missing all those shots down the stretch.
- Spurs win Game #5. Suns at big disadvantage without Stoudemire (Horry and Diaw is basically a draw). Sun’s six man rotation runs out of gas after have a big lead. Really, D’Antoni (the Sun’s coach) choked this one away by not stealing a few minutes rest through out the game for his starters with his bench.
- Spurs win Game #6. Spurs at disadvantage with Horry out.
So, by my count,
- Even Strength: Suns are 2-2 (including a home loss)
- Disadvantage: Suns are 0-1 (home loss)
- Advantage: Suns are 0-1
The Suns had their chance, and didn’t take it. Had they taken care of business in both home losses, the series is over. They win one of two, game 7 is Sunday.
